Well, now that i played the new update, and with all the opinions about new icons in the comments here. Here is my little opinion:
The old ones where better, but still, that doesnt mean this new ones are ugly or bad art. Some of them are cute, atleast at my eyes (Andrew especialy). As someone said in the comments i hope you use this sprites for special days or episodes, or moments where the reality is distorded, so it would add even more confusion to the moment. Atleast thats my idea.
Something that upset me more than the new icons itself, its that the center sprite of the characther isnt changed, only the icon in text log. It was an always reminder that the change was there and present, so i was just center in the change itself and not adjusting to it.
By Gils Day 9, i liked it, the writting and events that occur in this day are really nice and fitting for Gils Route. But like Andy itself said at the end of the Episode, it felt a little rushed, not only for the 2 CGs missing in this episode, but it felt really short to.
Something i really liked was the little touch to some dialoges, like shaky dialoges, it always make me laugh. So overall i really liked this update, i really hope Andy reeds this feedbacks by the community, great job still.
I could not have put it any better. Have ten likes. It's not my VN, Andy can do what he likes but just saying, the priorities aren't prioritizing. The UI and the visual look of the game is amazing already (besides the new sprites) and has been for a year plus without all the changes that keep on coming and nobody is asking for. If it ain't broken no need to fix it. Please just focus on the story, the interface looks great already. Giving critique may not feel good to some but it's what everyone needs from time to time.
i don't think the new icons are bad or ugly, but i higly understand why people are upset, people wouldn't be as mad if the new icons art style was the one used from the start, most people don't accept changes so fast and there's really a big, BIG contrast between the art you see on screen and the icons, they just don't fit together....
i think if your'e not going to play (read) the update just because you don't like the icons it's understandable but don't let a tiny detail like icons ruin your experience.
if by any chance andy reads this, im sorry but the new icons just don't fit the style the game has overall, i know maybe you payed for this new icons but REALLY they just are a downgrade for most of the players, maybe they could be repourposed in some way, like for an alternate line or exclusive for chapters or something idk, but please just give us a way to see the old icons :/
personally, i prefeer these new icons :) they look cute for me and as an artist theyr'e much more pleasing to the eyes, i just wanted to talk for the rest of the community, i think the best option is to just be able to enable and able them whenever you want, this change was honestly kinda weird lmao

but if you want my opinion (nobody really cares but meh) the new icons should stay, what i understood is that this will be the new artstyle for the game isn't it? it really is much better and expressive in an artistic way, for me at least, if people are just gonna leave to support the game for an art style change it really shows they don't care for the story andy has built (the most important thing), if you like the game for what really is (like me) you won't stop liking the game :)
i just consider this as a new step for the game, if you want to consider it a step back or a step forward is up to you, but i think it's fine
being really honest if i think i recognize who made the icons, compared to more of their work it could improve honestly

Pretty please delete the new character icons beside the text box as soon as possible asap, they look wonky af. Please please please give me the still image or better yet nothing at all. It was always weird to look at a basic smiling version of a character when there was a sad scene happening. I'll play through this update when they're removed or there's an option to turn them off. Not to be rude but please
Yeah they're (almost) all a hard pass. Like ruining the game levels of pass. Would rather not have anything please we need a button to turn them off. I promise this isn't about just not being used to them.

If you look at the more information tab it says it was updated at least 9 days ago I know the last devlog was July of 2022 but the game is not canceled
I wish you actually kept us updated here even if it's a short changelog like "update 1.25, added MR skittles day 5"
Also I read in a comment that episodes are important to story, maybe make that more easily known, i'm like a year waiting for an actual update and then i find out these episodes are actual updates
I noticed that half of lars day 6 is that the characters assets are in one emotion like Parker being angry at Lars but he stills smiles. Was that a bug?

I mean, I totally agree. If there are other creators who write really good stuff and has less exposure from what I have, 100% support them.
I'm not against people unsubbing to my patreon so they can help people with less patrons, and giving me helpful feedback, that's the only way I can get better as a writer and a content creator, myself.

It's not like I'm milking it LOL. If I wanted to milk the patron's money, I would have done it in a different way. If you read previous posts or some of the patreon stuff that's available to public, you'll find that I'm only rolling out updates on itch.io when I roll out story updates on Patreon.
Itch.io got Mark Episode 1 rework in November and Mark Day 9 in December.
I took a month break in January and told everyone to stop pledging if they weren't fine with me charging without giving content, and February is basically a housekeeping update, so there's no update for itch.io.
I honestly would really appreciate if you guys would take the time to read tbh.
Yeah, that's the point of the monthly report--it's to provide transparency on what I do and the development pacing (which I also agree with you, it's slow. I also wish I could make it faster, trust me, I really do and I often meme about it on Patreon LOL) along with other things.
That's also why my Patreon is not mandatory. It's for people who wants to help me fund the game so I could commission artists and whatnot.
It's true, we don't get many assets used in game as of now, but it doesn't mean the money goes to my personal pocket. I just need you to realize that we are a team, I don't do this project alone, there's a sort of a dev report and everything, from how many funds we have left to what assets we haven't done yet.
Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's true. I don't mean this to be something provocative and/or condescending, I just want to reach an understanding with you, is all.

November 2022, actually! If you want to count Episode Parker (it's brand new), it's December 2022. I understand why you won't count it as a story update, but I believe Episodes are important for Day 10 to plays out smoothly, that's why everyone's getting their Episode 1 before day 10 (and why I'm also updating Lars' Episode 1 to provide more context and clues.)
I wouldn't say an Episode update is just stretching it as a filler content. It's as important as main story, because it connects to it. Without that, everything just won't make sense.
If it was a filler content, I wouldn't have wasted any minute on it when I could work on the main story LOL.

The pledge on Patreon is entirely optional and the game will be free once it reaches the ending it deserves. I always pause the charge if I'm not working on anything--or I'll tell my patrons to pause their pledge when there's nothing new on patreon but I'm in a tight spot and need some help with money.
I do appreciate your comments, even though it could've been phrased better, but it provides something for us devs to talk about. But the way that you say that I'm milking is just, I don't know, kinda makes me feel a little bit sad LOL, not only me, but for both of us. yep some updates can take a while and if you scroll down a bit you will see people talking about the updates so hopefully that can answer some of your questions
actually, saying that there is no update is wrong. Last month Patreon got a housekeeping update, so Itch io didn't have any new updates. In August, we got Lars Day 9. In September, we got Parker Day 9 part 1 and part 2. The public version got no update in October because they received two months' worth of updates in one sitting. In November, we received a reworked Mark Ep 1. And finally, in December, we got Mark day 9 update. Itch io usually has a new update every month. If people read monthly reports on Patreon, they will know that they have a new update once a month
Thanks LMAO. It's hard to read monthly report nowadays, but it's sorta my fault for not making devlogs about it. I just assumed people head over to patreon to check the devlogs/monthly report.
ok ok i just finished day 8 of Coach Gil but im curious do we get to romance Logan in the future or is he strictly a side character??? cuz i wont lie i feel he would be a GREAT love interest where we could go down the line of like proving him and his family aren't that bad and theyre misunderstood etc etc but AHHH i cant stop thinking about it!
