If I recall, he said "Do you remember years ago before you moved in here?", which apparently, the Special Episode takes place years after the events of the main story. Probably 2-4 years because they're saying stuff out of context without context and such to avoid major spoilers.
Well at least it counts as an additional story if you were to finish Lars' route, which is convenient if you wanted more content and what happened to them after Lars' ending.
